So we are a couple weeks into summer now. The kids have had enough “relaxing” as I like to call it, aka doing NOTHING. And let’s be honest, the pantry and fridge are both empty.
It’s time to get out and about. Summer is great for moms and daughters to do things together. Hopefully your summer isn’t crazy busy. I like to reserve summertime to stop and play a little, but I had to learn the hard way to take it easy!
I made the mistake of overbooking our summers when the girls were younger. As soon as they were old enough, I signed them up for EVERY SINGLE camp available.
By the time school started back, I was left tired and wondering, “where did our summer go?”
So now I like to take a new approach. Instead of booking a ton of camps, I book one, uno, un. Okay, that’s all the languages I pretend to know. 🙂 But you get the idea. One camp per child (preferably at the same place and time).
The rest of the summer is a blank slate. Free to do whatever we want. Go with the wind! Fly by the seat of our pants. Onward and upwards. Did I miss any idioms here? Apparently I use them a lot, according to my kids. So I will share that little piece of me–with you. 🙂
Here we go! Let’s dive in and look at 10 things you can do with your tween/teen this summer. I mean the scavenger hunts, berry picking, and splash pads are great fun. My older girls will most likely enjoy taking little sister to do these (and we will), but I want to be purposeful with the older girls’ time too.
10 THINGS FOR TWEENS/TEENS TO DO THIS SUMMER

5. Volunteer Together

In reality, I only have a few more summers with them as children living in my house. The way life is today, they may become adults living in my house, but that is a whole nother post I’d rather not get into. Love you girls! *kiss*kiss*
Enjoy your time together. Make your own list, and do whatever makes the summer special for you. These are just a few things I want to do with my girls.
Make It Your Own Thing
Maybe you aren’t a list maker, or you don’t have the availability in your area to do these things. That’s okay. Just combine hobbies with your daughter. One of my girls loves to run. I am not a runner. There I put it in writing–so it is so. I. Don’t. Run.
My point is, I don’t like to run, but in the summers I run with my daughter. She whips me of course, and we end up talking about it way after summer is over.
Alternately, my girls are going to guest blog here this summer! I’m so excited to share my hobby with them, and teach them the ins and outs of creating a blog. So check back soon to see what they create! And if YOU are curious about starting a blog for fun, check out my resources page here.
I hope you get some inspiration from my 10 things to do with your tween/teen this summer! When I hear those dreaded words, “I’m bored!” My first response will be…”There is a load of laundry in the dryer.” Because always, and the next will be…”Check the list.”
